Hi Anon!

Thank you for your question about Wellbutrin! This is a tough question to answer as it is two-fold. One theory is that women who are depressed and take Prozac and Zoloft (SSRI-type medications which are known to interfere with sexual desire) could be experiencing sexual dysfunction because of the medication they are taking. So if a woman is taking one of these SSRI medications and then switches to Wellbutrin, the result is a possible increase in sexual desire.

Secondly, if a woman is depressed, she might not have a strong libido. Taking Wellbutrin and treating the depression, might make the woman feel better and thus she has a heightened interest in sex.

Anon, these correlations are explained and supported in further detail on this WebMD report. To view the report, click on the link below.

Anon, from the information I have researched, I can't suggest that Wellbutrin is a medication that specifically is described to 'treat' sexual dysfunction in menopausal women. I'll have to do more research on this topic to see if I can find a more concrete answer.

Did this help so far Anon?

Best,

Kristin
