Hi momof3bbs -

Welcome to EmpowHER and thanks for your question!

Have you been sick recently. Generally, lymph nodes or glands become swollen due to an infection or virus. The most common cause of swollen glands is an upper respiratory infection such as the common cold.

Swollen lymph nodes, however, can also indicate cancer. These include cancers that originate from the lymph nodes or blood cells such as leukemias and lymphomas. They may also be cancers that spread from another organ in the body. For example, lung cancer can spread to the lymph nodes around the collar bone and breast cancer can spread to the lymph nodes in the underarm.

Swollen lymph nodes are not always a sign that there's a disease, sometimes we just have them and no definitive cause is ever found.

How long have you experienced the lymph swelling in your neck and breast? If you have not had any obvious sign of an infection you may need to contact your medical provider for an evaluation.  Let us know what you decide to do and what you learn.

Best regards,

Pat
