Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community! Typically, breast hematomas are able to shrink and resolve themselves over time. The time it takes for hematomas to disappear may take longer if they are a larger size. Were your breast hematomas small or larger in size?

Yes, usually a hematoma should be resolved within a 7-8 year timeframe, especially if it wasn't large in size. It is possible that maybe the hematoma never fully resolved and that is what could be showing in the mammogram. Bringing in your past study for comparison will give your doctor a lot of help. They will be able to determine whether what they are seeing now in the mammogram is connected to your past breast hematomas or whether it is something else.

I hope this has helped! Please keep me updated and let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Erin
