Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us with your concern.

Some women will have spotting during ovulation. One thought is the broken follicle and release of a mature egg causes bleeding. Another theory is fluctuation in estrogen levels during ovulation. However, if you are having more than spotting, please consult your gynecologist.

The most common causes of bleeding during sexual intercourse include:
Friction during intercourse
Inflammation of the cervix
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
Injury to the endometrium (lining of the uterus) during intercourse
Vaginal dryness that may be caused by inadequate lubrication
Vaginitis
Cervical cancer

Again you must consult your physician if the bleeding continues for hours after intercourse, and it does not relate to your period.

Regards,
Maryann
