Guide

Hi bbaby55,

Thank you for your question and for choosing EmpowHER!

Anytime you have unprotected sex, you risk pregnancy. Even using condoms AND the pullout method is not a fail-safe method.

Even a shorter period is still a period and you probably aren't pregnant. Anxiety can throw your cycle off, so just keep that in mind.

As for your breasts getting bigger, if you are not pregnant, it could be due to fluctuating hormones. You could be experiencing a spike in the hormone Estrogen which experts say causes breast growth.

The best way to know if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test.

Again, your own situation will vary and we cannot give you a definitive answer.  A pregnancy test can be taken 10-14 days after unprotected sex and when taken correctly, will certainly be accurate by the time your period is due.

I hope this information helps you! If you have further concerns, taking a pregnancy test is a good idea if the time is right, or call your doctor for further instructions. He or she may want to give you a physical examination or a pregnancy test at the office. If you are not pregnant, your doctor might want to check your hormone levels, which is a really easy solution.

Here is a video from the EmpowHER community about the role Estrogen plays in women's bodies.

Kristin
