Guide

Hello tyasiamae,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern about a very irregular menstrual cycle.

You need to be evaluated for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). It is a rather common endocrine system disorder among women. In adolescents, infrequent or absent menstruation may raise suspicion for the condition.

Schedule an appointment with your primary care physician. Blood tests to measure several hormone levels should be done.

If indeed you have PCOS, the ultrasound should have shown ovarian and uterine changes associated with this condition. But, maybe the staff was only looking to rule out pregnancy.

Regards,
Maryann
