As for your question about HIV, were you both virgins or had you recently been tested for HIV? I am just trying to get a better understanding of how it is that you are sure you are not a carrier.

Anon, anytime you have unprotected sex you are taking a risk of getting pregnant and catching an STD. You are aware of your own circumstances and know your sexual history, but what about your partner? Has he or she been exposed to STDs?
I don't want to unnecessarily worry you, but you need to know that there is always a risk when having sex. Even married couples have contracted STDs from the spouse because of an affair etc.
You should always use a condom and get tested for STDs if you are sexually active.
