Hi Mommy3losingherself and welcome to EmpowHER.

It's unfortunate that you have to wait three months for test results, waiting can be very difficult. In the meantime, however, there are some things you can do to help with your memory loss.

1) exercise your brain by keeping mentally active. Do word puzzles, read and try math puzzles, like Sudoku
2) keep a note pad nearby to jot down things you have to do
3) use a calendar to keep track of upcoming events, bill paying or appointments
4) jot down items for a shopping list as soon as you run out of that item
5) establish a routine and stick to it

I am a cancer patient and have short term memory loss from what's known as "chemo brain." It can be very unsettling to forget basic, everyday things. I have had to make some adjustments in my life, including using a calendar system to record what I am going to do and to also write down what I have done (with important names, phone numbers, etc.) and that has truly helped me in adjusting to this way of life and staying on top of things.

The effect of multiple concussions over time can result in long-term neurologic and functional deficits. One thing you might consider is joining a brain injury support group where you can openly discuss your situation with others who understand what you are going through and who often can provide some very helpful tips for managing life's everyday situations and problems.

Wishing you the best,

Pat
