Guide

Hi Anonymous and thanks for bringing your concerns to EmpowHER. Let's see if we can help clear up some of the confusion.

An HSG, or hysterosalpingogram, is a special kind of x-ray. This procedure involves involves administering an iodine dye,  via the cervix, into the uterus and fallopian tubes, and taking x-ray pictures.

The leukocyte alkaline phosphatase (LAP) test is a laboratory test that measures the amount of a certain enzyme (alkaline phosphatase) in white blood cells. Alkaline phosphatase is group of enzymes that remove phosphate groups from many types of molecules in the body.  These enzymes are found throughout the body, but are especially concentrated in the liver, kidney,  bone tissue, bile duct, and in the placenta in pregnant women.

These are two different tests, looking for different types of information. The LAP test for pregnancy is a blood test. Are you talking about something else? And, is there a reason why you are doubting your doctor? If you help us to better understand the situation we can try to help you further.

Regards,

Pam
