Basically, the menstrual cycle is regulated by a balance of hormones. Any thing that causes an imbalance results in changes.
Age, early teen years of menstruation and perimenopause during your 40s and 50s, pregnancy, excessive stress, extreme weight gain or extreme weight loss, or a thyroid gland disorder are all factors that can disrupt the hormonal balance.
Consult your gynecologist about this. Please keep in touch once you have spoken with your doctor.
