There are many different possible reasons for this. If this happens right before, or directly following your period it could be caused because the penetration stimulated your normal menstrual bleeding in relation to your period.
If this happens at a time unrelated to your period you should see a doctor right away. There could be something more serious going on especially if you have any other negative symptoms such as pain.
