Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for seeking our help.

Tonsillitis refers to inflammation of the pharyngeal tonsils, which are the glands at the back of the throat that are visible through the mouth.

The inflammation may involve other areas of the back of the throat, including the adenoids and the tonsil tissue at the back of the tongue.

Painful swallowing and difficulty swallowing are associated with tonsillitis.

What you feel as a "lumpy mucus type thing" in the back of your throat could be inflamed tonsil tissue.

Bloody mucus mass that came out of your nose could indicate irritated nasal passages. Since you are under the care of your physician for tonsillitis, mention this. I can suggest using a humidifier to moisten the air in your home.

Regards,
Maryann
