Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER.

Are you asking if one or both of your Fallopian tubes could become "untied" without surgical intervention and if you could become pregnant?

Tubal ligation is a procedure in which the Fallopian tubes are blocked to prevent pregnancy. The methods include clipping or banding them shut or cutting and stitching or burning them closed.Another method involves implants, such as Essure, which are inserted in the Fallopian tubes without surgery or general anesthesia.

There is a slight risk of becoming pregnant after tubal ligation. This happens to about 5 out of 1,000 women after 1 year.
The tubes can grow back together or a new passage form that allows an egg to be fertilized by sperm.

If the tubal ligation was not done properly, pregnancy is possible.

Anonymous, if you have any concerns that you might be pregnant or would like to have the procedure reversed so that you could become pregnant, please consult your gynecologist.

Regards,
Maryann
