Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a severe vision impairment due to the progressive degeneration of the rod photoreceptor cells in the retina. It is a degenerative eye disease. By it being degenerative, it is characterized by progressive deterioration or loss of function of that organ. Unfortunately, there is no cure, your doctor is correct . However there are some low vision and adaptive device options.
