Oral contraceptives prevent pregnancy by preventing ovulation.
You did the right thing when you doubled up the next night. I do not think there was a high risk for conceiving on the night of the missed dose.
However, I want to point out that the drop in consistent hormone levels that occurs with missed doses can trigger ovulation. That is where the risk for pregnancy lies.
There is a high risk for pregnancy with unprotected intercourse when you take the seven inactive pills and skip the first active pill.
There is no risk for pregnancy with unprotected intercourse during the seven days you are taking the inactive pills. You will be having vaginal bleeding during this time.
I hope that I have answered your questions. Please confirm my answer with your gynecologist, who can best counsel you.
Regards,
Maryann
Skipping the inactive pills will not increase your risk for pregnancy. But, you will not know if you did conceive on the night of the missed dose.
