What a great article Jody, as well as a beautiful tribute to your Mom and the unique and wonderful lady that she was! She had that special knack of creating such wonderful and unique relationships with family......you and your brothers and your families, her siblings and each of her nieces and nephews and our families.....and those she called "friend". We all truly were blessed to have her in our lives!
This year, as I face another Mother's Day without Mom and Ila as a part of my day to day life, there will definitely once again be an acknowledgement of the void in my life without these 2 special ladies, who were not only sisters-in-law, but best friends, and who enjoyed so many shenanigans together throughout the years! My day will have a certain emptiness in it, to not be able to call them and wish both of them a very "Happy Mother's Day!". Although Ila and I always shared a very special bond, it only grew stronger after my own Mom died back in 1977. For all those years after my Mom died, and before Ila died 2 years ago, all the times that you want/need to reach out to someone special who truly "knows and understands" you, Ila was always there for me! So, I will be thinking of you and your entire family as well that day, and I will be thankful that we all have such wonderful memories to cherish of the special lady we all loved so very, very much!
