Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us with your question regarding the comment on the cervical biopsy report.

Following any diagnostic procedure, you should have a scheduled appointment to discuss the finding with the physician who ordered it. Your gynecologist will explain the findings and suggest any treatments, if any are even necessary.

I am glad to provide you with general information.

As you already know, chronic means persisting for a long time, long-standing and constantly recurring.

Endocervicitis is inflammation of the mucous membrane of the uterine cervix. Papillary endocervicitis is a specific form of tissue response to inflammation.

Cervicitis is an inflammation of the cervix. Cervicitis may be caused by a vaginal infection, a sexually transmitted disease (such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, or genital herpes), or injuries to the cervix from childbirth, abortion, or surgery on the uterus. Cervicitis can be an acute or chronic condition.

If untreated, the infection can spread to the lining of the uterus (endometritis) or the fallopian tubes. It can cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).

Regards,
Maryann
