Pregnancy is highly unlikely the reason for your period to be late by nine days, since you had protected intercourse.

High levels of stress is more likely the reason. Acute and chronic stress can fundamentally alter the body's hormone balance, which can lead to missed, late or irregular periods.

Considering you have a family history of PCOS, you should consider talking with your doctor about it. Women with a mother or sister having PCOS might have a greater chance of having it, too. Researchers also are looking into the possibility that certain genes are linked to PCOS.
