Once sperm is dry it is dead. If it is not dry, than it can live longer, however, the length of time depends on it's location and environment.
If outside the body, and moist it can live anywhere from 20 mins to an hour. If inside the body, say for instance a woman's cervix, sperm can last 3, 5 or even 7 days.
Once sperm dries, you can still see traces of it, so no, it's not invisible. Even though you may not be able to see it with the naked eye, doesn't mean it's not there.
