So, first of all, you should not assume that feeling sick or vomiting is necessarily related to your missed period. Treat your symptoms as if you have the flu.
Most doctors immediately prescribe birth control to regulate your periods. But keep in mind that it is not necessary to have a period unless you wish to become pregnant. If you have severe symptoms however (such as unbearable cramping without bleeding) you need to see a gynecologist to get a pap smear.
