As you seem to already know, pre-ejaculate fluid does not contain sperm. Sperm can remain in your urethra from a recent, previous ejaculation. It is flushed out when you urinate.
To the point, there was no risk of pregnancy because this happened two days after your girlfriend finished her period. That was too early for ovulation. So, with no released egg to fertilize, there was no risk.
