Hello and welcome to EmpowHer,
As long as you take emergency contraception correctly and have a healthy reproductive system, it will be effective. Being overweight will not decrease the effectiveness of the pill.
Cramping, nausea, tender breasts, fatigue, vaginal bleeding/spotting, headaches, abdominal pain etc are all side effects of the drug. If you are still having side effects after your next period, you should visit the gynecologist to get a pap smear and make sure nothing more serious is going on.
