How to Crush These 10 Excuses That Prevent You from Working Out
Do you remember that promise you told yourself at the end of the Holidays? The same promise you made this week before and probably just last Monday? Yep, the one where you promised to work out and get motivated but “things” always came up - and so you can’t do it. If this sounds like you then read on.
Here are 10 excuses people make that prevent them from working out along with tips on how to change.
1. “I don’t have time”
If you’re an average working professional with a day job you mostly spend your day like this: 8 hours at work, 8 hours for rest and 8 hours for free time. In those 8 hours of free time, how much do you spend to get a little physical activity? Probably not even an hour.
Solution: Track your time. And insert exercise at the most convenient spot when you have the energy and mindset to get it done.
2. “I’m too tired”
If you’ve been sitting around all day at work, and then say you’re too tired, ask yourself once again - are you really tired? You’d be surprised, because sometimes you’re not really tired. Sometimes you’re just too stressed. Help yourself by getting some good heart pumping physical activity. A study has found that low intensity exercise reduces fatigue by 65 percent.
Solution: If you feel tired, rest a few minutes, drink water and start doing some small exercise to wake up your muscles. Trust me you’ll feel better after shedding sweat.
3. “Nothing happens – I never gain muscles”
Gaining muscles takes hard work, discipline and PATIENCE. The problem with most men in the gym is that they expect results after just a few days of working out. Sorry bud. It doesn’t work that way. And there’s also no magic pill that can turn you a Hulk overnight.
Solution: Be patient; keep on exercising and maintain a good diet. You’ll see results after a few months.
4. “I can’t find the motivation”
It goes in a horrible cycle. You feel tired because you can’t find motivation, and when you have no motivation, you aren’t gaining positive results. That’s what makes us stuck most of the time.
Solution: Do you think people waited for motivation? No they sought it out! They got their lazy butts off the couch and moved.
5.“Exercise is terribly boring”
But it doesn’t have to be. There are many ways you can work out your body without having to hold a metal machine bar and count your every move. If you think exercising in the gym is boring then why not try an active hobby instead? You can be out in the open and not in an enclosed and trapped gym area.
Solution: Try an active hobby. There’s hiking, swimming, jogging, biking, and skiing. These are just some; there are many kinds of active hobby out there just waiting for you to try!
