Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you came to us with your concern that your girlfriend could have become pregnant.

You can both know that there was no risk for pregnancy. Though you had unprotected intercourse, you did so early in her menstrual cycle.

She can calculate her menstrual cycle by starting with the first day of her period. This is day one.
Ovulation, which is when one of her ovaries releases a mature egg, happens around day 14. A woman is fertile five days before ovulation, which would be day 9 - day 13 on on the day of ovulation, which would be day 14.

I urge you both to use some type of birth control since you are both sexually active.
To avoid a repeat, use a condom each and every time you have intercourse; wear it from start to finish.

She needs to choose a type of birth control that will work for her. I invite both of you to visit our Contraceptive page https://www.empowher.com/contraception.

Some women will experience headaches as a side effect of Postinor. She may have changes to her menstrual cycle. For example, her next period might start earlier or later than expected. Menstrual flow can be lighter or heavier than normal.

The pregnancy test was negative because there was no conception.

Keep in touch if you have any further questions.
