Encephalitis is not considered a sleeping sickness. It is an is irritation and swelling (inflammation) of the brain, most often due to infections. This swelling may destroy nerve cells, and cause bleeding in the brain and brain damage.
One of it's symptoms is low energy which may cause someone to sleep more. Other symptom is low fever, mild headache, clumsiness and confusion.
