Guide

Hello JK0194,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. I am glad you reached out to our community for help.

I would not think you were pregnant because you had bleeding during week 2 and 3 of your active pills, and said you have not missed a dose.

Is this the first time this has happened? Is it spotting or a flow?

I suggest you contact your gynecologist today.

Birth control pills contain small amounts of synthetic estrogen and progestin, which inhibit your natural hormones that allow you to become pregnant. Others, known as the mini pill, contain progestin only. As your body adapts to different levels of hormones, you may experience bleeding between periods, known as breakthrough bleeding.

Sometimes the pill you are on is not the right pill for you. If you experience continued spotting, talk to your doctor about switching to another type of pill or ring.

Keep in touch,
Maryann
