Stress, especially during ovulation, can cause a delay in the start of your period.
During periods of high stress, the body produces more cortisol, which is sometimes called the stress hormone. High cortisol levels trigger the body to shut down nonessential functions. The menstrual cycle is one such function.
Try to relax. Take a break to do something that calms you down, such as listening to music, meditate or take a walk.
If your period has not started in the next three or four days, test for pregnancy. For the most accurate result, test in the morning and use the first urine of the day. That would rule out pregnancy as the cause for a late period.
