Irregular vaginal bleeding, especially lighter bleeding can indicate pregnancy. If you have intercourse and pregnancy is a possibility, then take a pregnancy test. If the test is negative there are many other possible reasons for irregular periods/vaginal bleeding.
I highly encourage you to read the article below that talks about all the possible causes of irregular bleeding. Then see your gynecologist as soon as possible to get a pap smear and make sure nothing serious like ovarian polyps or cysts are occurring.
