Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community with your question.

Is the patient still in the hospital? What surgical procedure was performed? Where was the drain tube located? How much drainage is there?

If the patient is still in the hospital, the surgical and nursing staff will be monitoring the amount of drainage from the site.

A slight amount of bleeding is normal. It can be the result of blood drawn to the surface as the tube was removed or simply bleeding from around the site due to the recent insertion.

An increase in bleeding, to the point of saturating the bandage, would be of concern.

Hope this answers your question.
