Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to our community with your concern about your period.

You mention that you missed your period one month. Now, your menstrual cycle has increased to 40 days. Working out for 30 minutes a day could play a role, especially if you had been inactive.

The menstrual cycle is regulated by a precise balance of hormones. Any upset can cause changes. Prolonged and high stress, extreme weight gain or weight loss and a thyroid condition are three examples.

Consider scheduling an appointment with either a gynecologist or your primary care physician.
I would want to have PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome ruled out. Polycystic ovary syndrome signs and symptoms often begin soon after a woman first begins having periods. Irregular periods is the most common symptom. Excess facial and body hair (hirsutism), adult acne or severe adolescent acne are other signs.

Blood tests to check hormone levels is a start to determining why you haven't gotten your period and did miss one month.

Regards,
Maryann
