Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to our community with your concern about a late period this month.

Since you have had three normal periods following unprotected sex in June, you did not become pregnant.

Have you had unprotected sex since your last period in August? If so, then take a home pregnancy test. For the most accurate result, purchase a name brand product and test in the morning. Use the urine when you first wake up and use the bathroom.

Anonymous, the menstrual cycle is regulated by a precise balance of hormones. Any upset can cause an irregularity. Some things that can cause a delay are high stress levels, like starting college and living away from home, a marked increase in your physical activity, like training to run a marathon, or a major increase or decrease in your weight.

If you have not had unprotected sex and there have been no major changes in your life, just wait until the end of this month. Still no period, speak with your physician who can order blood tests to check your hormone levels or further advise you.

Regards,
Maryann
