Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I wish you had listened to your husband because he was right. I also wish you had reached out to our community before you took Plan B. There was absolutely no reason to take it.

Mirena, which is a type of long-acting, reversible birth control called a hormonal intrauterine device (IUD) is one of the most effective birth control options.

However, over the course of 5 years, fewer than 8 in 1,000 women become pregnant while using Mirena. One risk of becoming pregnant while using Mirena is called ectopic pregnancy. This means that the pregnancy is not in the uterus.

My concern for you is the combination of taking a high dose of levonorgestrel, which is in Plan B, and have the slow release of levonorgestrel from Mirena. I have no knowledge and strongly advise you to contact your gynecologist and report this. Pregnancy is not a worry, but a hormonal issue is.

Regards,
Maryann
