A lump in the trapezius muscle may be due to a knot or myofascial trigger point. The lump is usually tender under pressure and can cause referred pain to other areas. Only your doctor can diagnose this, of course. But if this is the case, treatment may include physical therapy, trigger point injections or medications. Any lump found on the body, even if not painful, should always be evaluated by a doctor.
