Your situation is actually not that uncommon although it's far more common in Type 1.
Causes can be medication that needs adjustment, going too long between meals/snacks or even over-exercising.
Many people with Type 2 are advised to lose weight as being over-weight can cause Type 2 in the first place. If you have not been trying to lose weight and you are not doing any of the above activities that can cause a drop in low blood sugar, talk to your doctor.
