The first thing to do is take a pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy.
If you are not pregnant and are over 40, then this could be the start of peri-menopause as one of the first signs is irregularity in the menstrual cycle.
If you are not over 40, there may be some kind of hormonal disruption going on, some blood tests can let you know more.
