About 10% to 30% of women under the age of 60 diagnosed with “triple-negative” breast cancer, which are cancers that do not have receptors for estrogen, progesterone, and HER2/neu, will have BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation, and others will have mutations in related breast cancer risk genes.
