Joel Stein wrote an article for Time called "Afterbirth: It's what's for dinner" back when his child was born. His wife decided that she wanted to "Eat" her placenta for the nutrients and PPD benefits. I can't say I would ever pay someone to come and cook my placenta for me-- but she did put them in capsules and in a bottle which made it more bearable for her. I, personally, would've torn my kitchen out after this lady was done cooking it. Surprisingly, it is more common than we think it is.

Here's the article: http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1908194,00.html
