Why get blood tests?

Why do you have to have blood tests when you find out you are pregnant? Can you refuse them?
I have an abnormal fear- phobia of blood drawing.

Why do my breasts repeatedly develop abnormal microcalcifications requiring biopsy?

Two years ago, after recovering from a complete hysterectomy, I had a routine mammogram which revealed an abnormal cluster of microcalcifications on my right breast.

Could I have harmed my unborn baby by taking cold medicine before I found out i was pregnant?
