im irregular as always with a 36,36,48,37,39 days cycles. now today is day 45 and my period is 3 days late, im kinda worried, i dont know, my only PMS symptoms im getting is moderate headache, some acne, increase appetite, moddiness, and trouble sleeping at night. do you experience those symptoms too before your period ? im very worried about pregnancy but i didnt had sex :/ why my period is late :/

Guide

Hello jbdb,

We can rule out pregnancy as the reason your period is late.

You mention that you have a history of an irregular menstrual cycle. Have you spoken with a gynecologist about this? Depending on the cause, oral contraceptives might be prescribed and help regulate your menstrual cycle.

Stress can cause a delay in the start of your period. During periods of high stress levels, the body produces increased levels of the hormone called cortisol. The body responds to high stress by shutting down certain bodily functions that are consider to be non-essential. The menstrual cycle is one of these functions.

Regards,
Maryann
