Hi, Anon,
Welcome to EmpowHER, and thank you for your question.
The answer isn't an easy one. Some women's breasts can look perfectly normal and yet they find a lump that turns out to be cancer.
Some kinds of cancer can show up by such things as the nipple turning inward (instead of how it is regularly) or of a dimple suddently showing up in a place where it didn't used to be.
Sometimes, there is a skin condition where the skin looks sort of ripply and rashy, maybe like the skin of an orange in texture. It might appear dark pink or red. Or it might feel hot, like it has a fever.
Does your friend have any of these symptoms?
