Hi
I have been with my bf for a couple of months now we have been having sex and tried different positions to make it more comfortable as you would. We had no problems and everything had been going smoothly. Only the other day we were about to have sex as he went to insert in me i couldnt not allow him to any further as it pained! He has not been playing with me hard or anything so i no no damage is done! I did some research and something about thickening of the wall of the vagina but i dont no why and how all of a sudden this is a little upsetting as he wants to know too plz help i am 21 and have not had sex before thank you

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER. A woman can experience painful intercourse if there is not enough lubrication. You and your partner can try using lubricant and see if this helps. Other conditions such as vaginismus, vaginal infection, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, menopause, sexually transmitted disease and many other can also cause pain during intercourse.

Hope this was helpful?

Best,

Daisy
