My boyfriend and I took a shower together on December the 7th. While we were in the shower he was on his knees and I was standing up. He "came" on the shower floor and he thinks he cleaned it off good enough with his hand while in there. Then he fingered me, but I got scared thinking he might have had some on his fingers. So the next day on December the 8th. I took the Next choice one dose pill just to be safe. My last period was on November the 25. It has been 10 days since taking the pill. I haven't had spotting, I have only had sore breasts and my nipples are hard but that's about it. My question is, do you think I'm okay? (Not pregnant) Ive been stressing about it a lot because I am only 18.

Hello Anonymous,
Welcome to EmpowHER. By taking Next Choice within 72 hours, you should be protected against an unwanted pregnancy. There was probably a low risk anyway, especially if the water in the shower was running.
Changes in the menstrual cycle are a side effect of an emergency contraceptive. Most women start their next period close to schedule, but some will start earlier or later than normal.
If you do not have any vaginal bleeding within three weeks of taking Next Choice, test for pregnancy.

Hello again Maryann. It has been 17 days since taking the Next Choice One Dose pill and I have not had any bleeding. My last period (start) was November 25. So I should have started today. Which is December 25. I took Next Choice within the 72 hours. I have been stressing constantly because I do not want to be pregnant. I'm only 18. I just need some answers. Please help.

Hello Anonymous,
Stressing out can also cause a delay in the start of your period. Taking Next Choice upsets the hormonal balance that controls the menstrual cycle.
Try to relax. There was such a low risk for conceiving. Wait another four days. If you haven't had any vaginal bleeding by then, take a test.
I strongly doubt you are pregnant. But, seeing the result for your self may give you peace of mind.

Hello Maryann! yesterday I took two home pregnancy tests and both came out negative. Today Monday December 29th, I got my period! Thank you so much for all of your help! The next choice one dose pill definitely made it late! And I'm sure stressing did too. But thank you again for your help!
