Q:

Am I pregnant ?

So i had my last period period August 16 and it finished on the 20th. My boyfriend and I had intercourse on the 19th of august (4 day of my period ) and he was using a spermicidal condom but due to our luck the condom broke. 2 hours after the incident we purchased Next choice which is the equivalent to plan B and I consumed both pills at the same time . I then had some bleeding until the 23 august so my period was extended 3 days. I have an app to keep track of my period but sometimes when its off I compare when my period is coming to my sisters. My period is always 3 days after my sisters period (which started 5 days ago ) and the app says my period was due 5 days ago ( the 18th ). I am now 5 days late and very scared. Any ideas of whats going on??

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you reaching out to us with your concern regarding your late period.

Your period is late because you took Next Choice. Changes to the menstrual cycle are sometimes experienced as a side effect. Since you bleed after taking the emergency contraceptive, it worked and you are not pregnant.

Try to relax, your period will start but just a little later than you app predicted.

Regards,
Maryann

Thank you so much Maryann ! I guess I'm just gonna sit here and wait until I get. Its so nerve-wracking . Should I consider a test if it doesn't come by next week?

Hi Anonymous,

Only test if you have had unprotected sex since you last bleed in late August.
