Q:

Am I pregnant?

My boyfriend and I hadn't had sex for a month, and I'm approximately 2 days late from my period. Sometimes it's irregular but the last time we had sex(unprotected) he pulled out. I also sometimes suffer from bacterial vaginosis and I take medication to help clear the infection. The week of using this medicine was the last time having sex. Stress could be a factor? I took a home pregnancy test which came postive and scared to death that it's accurate. Could it be due to hormones or actually being pregnant?

Guide

Hello, Anon.

Thank you for writing us.

Home pregnancy tests are pretty reliable -- in fact, most of them can detect a pregnancy with 97 percent accuracy as early as the day after you miss your menstrual period. A positive result indicates pregnancy. You should contact your doctor or planned parenthood for a blood test to confirm these results.
