hi!!!

4 months ago i had sex(i.e on 6 June 2009)..(Actually it was not intercourse but we were just fooling around. He inserted his finger in my vagina after touching his penis. He dint ejaculated and i m not sure whether his fingers were wet or not.)
after that i had my period on 16 June which was 10 days late( as i was expecting on 7th June)..The periods were not normal as it started with brown spotting and then next day there was very dark bleeding but it was scanty( May be its due to tension). It lasted for 2 days and got over.
Then next month my periods happend on 16th July. and this time the flow was not heavy as it should be but it was normal enough to keep pad. It lasted for 3 days.
Then i was expecting my periods on 16 August but its not happened till today(Its almost 50 days over). I dont have any pregnancy symptoms.
Although my periods are not very regular but i have never missed my periods.
Please Help. i dont want to get pregnant....

Hi empowher1,

Thank you for your question. After four months, you would certainly have symptoms of pregnancy which includes sore breasts, fatigue, nausea, backaches, headaches, frequent urination and food cravings.

I am not sure how old you are but there are certainly times when your body changes and your periods are irregular which can be caused by many different reasons. A few of the main reasons are level of activity, stress and eating disorders.

Irregular periods are pretty normal in women as we all have been there. Most literature will say that if it lasts longer than a year to seek medical attention. Irregular periods can be caused by cysts too. If you have symptoms of excessive hair growth, weight gain, acne, dandruff, or high blood pressure; you should certainly seek medical assistance.

Does this information help? Are you experiencing any other symptoms?

Hi thanks Alot for your reply... but i had made mistake in my calculation its 3 months( from 6 june to 6th sept) instead of 4 months . I m really sorry for this.
I am 23 years old. I am underweight.
Is there any chances of pregnancy now?

Thank you. Since you are still actively having a period (although irregular), your probably not pregnant. You could always go to a Dollar Store and pick up a pregnancy test for $1.00 just to be rest assured.

Since you are 23 years old, you are in a prime age of changes. Periods tend to change over the years and you may always start at the beginning of the month and then all of a sudden you start in mid-month. This is common and usually there is nothing to worry about. We have all been there and have worried about it just as you are.

If at any time, you begin to experience other symptoms, you should seek medical attention immediately. Otherwise, your period will start to become regular again in time although it may be different from what you have always experienced.

You also mentioned that you are underweight which is common for irregular periods. Is being underweight a concern for you (eating disorders)? Do you over exercise? Eat healthy? Under eat?

i have a question, lets say your guy was wearing a condom, went inside. he withraws even before he feels the tingle. Humping does happen though.then maybe after 10 minutes he ejaculates but not inside the girl anymore. very far away from the vagina. afterwards, they always check the condom if there are leaks/tears by filling it up with water and checking it thoroughly.. there was none......its even placed above the paper and leave it around for a few minutes to see if there are leaks. but is there a possible way a girl could get pregnant still?? because they say, holes/tears are sometimes not visible to the eye.

Alison Beaver Guide (reply to dt1230)

According to the Advocates for Youth (a very informative and credible sex-education site), "Several studies clearly show that condom breakage rates in this country are less than 2%. Most of the breakage and slippage likely is due to incorrect use rather than poor condom quality… Latex condoms are highly effective for pregnancy prevention, but only when they are used properly." In fact, "High failure rates [of condoms] in some studies occur because many people lie about contraceptive use to shift the responsibility for an unintended pregnancy to a “faulty” contraceptive, according to the Truth About Condoms: Planned Parenthood site.

This is why it is important to know how to correctly put on a condom, use a condom, and make sure the condom has not deteriorated (from sun or heat), and is not past its expiration date.

I'm wondering what motivated you ask this question (especially in the third person). Did you recently read a forwarded email or hear a friend talk about "holes in condoms", as these rumors do re-surface from time to time.

Another important distinction is the use of latex condoms (which you most likely are referring to) versus other materials (polyurethane or lambskin), as the "natural-membrane condoms have naturally occurring pores that are small enough to prevent passage of sperm but large enough to allow passage of viruses in laboratory studies". [Source: Centers for Disease Control (CDC)].

This is interesting to note, as even condoms that DO have small pores naturally contain holes that are not permeable to sperm (the sperm is too big to pass through the condom), but some viruses are smaller than sperm and may be able to travel through the pores of the condom. So, in essence, these natural-membrane condoms are for birth control only, and not STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) prevention.

Lastly, you can click on the link below for a similar Q&A to your's, as well as information on how to use a condom consistently and correctly: Go Ask Alice: Common Reasons for Condom Failure.

Does this answer your question?
