Q:

Am I pregnant or not?

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a few months. I have been taking home tests like crazy. I took 2 first response tests 5 days before my period and they both came back positive. I then proceeded to take 4 more clearblue digital tests, all which came back positive. I made a doctor's appointment for 2 days after my period was due (so I am 2 days late). Their test came back negative. Any ideas on whether I'm pregnant or not?

Hello Jfrank11,

Welcome again to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to us. I can appreciate how confusing this must be, especially since you are trying to conceive.

I am concerned about the timing of these pregnancy tests. Was the test done at the physician's office a blood or urine test? This was done when your period was late by two days, correct?

Levels of hCG, which is the hormone produced during pregnancy, can be detected in blood about 11 days following conception. It can be detected in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception.

An ultrasound can determine if you are pregnant and help with determining due date.

Regards,
Maryann
