I am 24 years old and when I was 16 I broke my ankle really bad in soccer. I had pins and plates put in and then 7 months later I had them taken out becuase I broke the pin holding my tibia and fibula to my ankle. I then had a bone gra and then I had a dead nerve taken out. I am still hurting severly and I have lived with this pain and arthritis since I was 18. My ankle is deformned and the inside of my ankle is starting to feel like its going to break in half. The skin is stretched to its max. I need help. I went to a doctor near where I live and he just said "oh it arthritis and do you want a brace." I already have about 10 of them and I do heat therapy on it. Do you think I should go back to my original surgen to see what he thinks?

Yeah he took a xray but didn't really look at it beacuse I also was shceduled to have my left knee worked on beause I had torn my meniscus. I told him that my ankle hurt worse then my knee but did not seem to care.I will keep everyone posted.

Hi Nfrazer,

I'm so sorry you've had to endure such pain. Did the doctor that you saw recently perform an xray of your ankle before saying it was arthritis?

I would definitely recommend a second opinion and if you can get a hold of your surgeon, even better. As for now, keep the brace on and schedule that appointment as soon as possible.

Please keep us posted,

Rosa
