Q:

Are there any thyroid cancer survivors out there that now have adrenal fatigue?

I had papillary thyroid cancer at age 18 in 1980 and thyroglobulin elevated in 1996 which meant a RAI treatment. I am 48 years old now and have been struggling with adrenal fatigue for the past 1 1/2. No matter what I do I don't seem to feel any better- fatigued all the time, struggle with weight (even though I exercise and eat right). I just wonder if they are somehow related.....

Thank you for your question. I am sorry you were diagnosed with thyroid cancer at such an early age!

I have been reading information about "adrenal fatigue", as this is not an actual medical diagnosis. According to an article at the Mayo Clinic, it is actually more harmful to treat this condition with unproven remedies. What is important is to receive an actual diagnosis if you have adrenal insufficiency, or if your symptoms are caused by another condition. You can read more about this article at: Adrenal Fatigue (Mayo Clinic article).

Have you been diagnosed via blood test with adrenal insufficiency?
