Q:

Awkward bleeding question

OK...I had anal sex. I've had it before, more often with a guy who was smaller. We used a condom because we started with vaginal sex (he finished while we were doing anal, we didn't go back and forth). And I take my pill within the same half hour every night. So I don't think I really have to be worried about being pregnant.

But later when I was walking I felt uncomfortable and sore. When I wiped, it almost looked like feces but I wasn't sure. But later I went to the bathroom and had bleeding. He is pretty big and was kinda rough, so do I have any real concerns? I got it to stop after a couple minutes, but I'm just sore there now.

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Bleeding after anal sex could be due to an irritation of a hemorrhoid, an anal fissure, which is a small tear in the thin moist tissue lining the anus, or something more serious such as a perforation of the colon.

The anus lacks the natural lubrication that the vagina has. The tissue inside the anus does not have natural protection, which leaves it vulnerable to tearing and the spread of infection.

If the soreness persists and bleeding returns, consult your physician.
