Its funny how you think you know better than the experts, its called the "Dunning-Kruger" effect (I just wanted to use that for a long time, hope I used it right)! IT DOES NOT REALLY EFFECT HOW YOU DRINK THE WATER! Just drink plenty of it! Stay healthy!

Dear Friends
Hi, my name Kebu. Thanks for comments. However ,the teaching in Islam which is since 1400 years ,still mention the necessity of drinking water in sitting position, now interpreted by Science as true and healthy way to the life. The modern science now invented this in early 20th century.God is Great and thanks for commenting on these view again.

All looking for scientific reason !!!

What all of us mean by science.
What it explained above is science, identifying/ discovering how the water is get in to the body itself is science.

Hence i don't think we need more reason of it.

I believe what Faru was mentioning was "Sphincter" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphincter).
There is indeed some Islamic view regarding drinking in the sitting position. However, I can't find any scientific explanation (yet) of which sphincter(s) is/are affected in the sitting or standing position.
This could be an interesting scientific research though, as Missie had pointed out :)

Hello

Believe this or not but even in the Hindu Religion they emphasize that we should drink water sitting down. My parents always keep reminding me to do this :) !! I see no harm in doing this as it is just a matter of sitting down so I try and follow it whenever possible.

Hi Anonymous,
This is an interesting point of view. There is a religious aspect of drinking water in Islam and I am thinking you found your information here about the two diseases http://justepri.web.id/secret-of-sunnah-sit-while-drinking.

I, like Susan, cannot find a scientific reason behind sitting and drinking water but it appears most information coming from Islamic rituals - tends to favor sitting and water consumption.

It would be a great topic for scientific review though. Thanks for sharing the information.

Best regards,
Missie
